Principal Investigator: Eslam Khalaf
Khalaf's work addresses questions in the physics of disorder, topological insulators and semimetals, mechanisms for superconductivity in multi-layer graphene heterostructures, and new phenomena in quasicrystals and moiré systems.
Would be mostly coding
Basic knowledge of band theory of solids, basic numerical skills (numerical diagonalization, linear algebra), basic knowledge of second quantization
Both students were accepted in PhD programs
Time Commitment
Hard to tell. If I give them 1-2 papers, I expect them to have read it and come up with concrete questions within 1-2 weeks.
Undergrads per Semester
I had one undergrad and one master student in 2 years
Typical Project Length
Unlikely to produce anything publishable in less than 6 months
Minimum Commitment
Would probably want at least 2 semesters but have not been requiring that
Co-authorship Policy
Yes
Group Meetings
Every week
