Recently, Ro has focused on studying collective phenomena in active matter, which consists of units driven out of equilibrium at the individual level.
What Research Looks Like
The project would likely involve a simple analytical calculations followed by careful numerical verification.
Example Undergraduate Projects
- Coarsening in phase separation governed by the moment-conserving diffusion
- Boundary-driven scale-free profiles in systems of two particles undergoing annihilation reactions
Prerequisites & Skills
Knowledge of statistical mechanics and experience with numerical simulations (molecular dynamics or Monte Carlo sampling). Familiarity with stochastic dynamics would also be very helpful.
